Jet

The poem Jet was very interesting and confusing. He used a lot of metaphors that were hard to understand. One metaphor he used was "drinking jet fuel with the boys, getting louder and louder," which meant that he missed the old days when he use to drink with his friends. Getting louder and louder meant that they would drink until they were drunk. When he says "On Earth, men celebrate their hairiness, i thought that meant that men celebrate different than others and it is good to be yourself.
"We gaze into the night as if remembering the bright unbroken planet we once came from, to which we will neverbe permitted to return" shows that the men remember all the good times they had together and would not trade it for anything.
The authour Tony Hoagland wrote this poem to reflect on all the good times he had with his buddies. He wrote the poem to share memories he had in his life.

good first post. Try to explain better what you think each line means. Also describe things like tone (the speaker's mood) and word choice.
